"LEHI -- Friends and neighbors of Kristy Ragsdale -- fatally shot, police say, by her estranged husband at a Lehi church on Sunday -- are tying pink ribbons along the Lehi street where she lived with her young sons. A large pink ribbon is on her mailbox and another is on her door, and bouquets of flowers are on her doorstep. Up and down the street, slender trees in the newer subdivision are decorated with smaller ribbons. Jody Smith, a friend who lives a few blocks away, said several women in the area came up with the idea of honoring Kristy Ragsdale's memory. "I think we're all in shock right now," Smith said. "She was a beautiful person. She always had a smile on her face." Sara Chadwick said Kristy Ragsdale will be remembered as a talented choir director who was always concerned about others. Chadwick's father has Parkinson's disease, and Kristy Ragsdale would often ask after him and suggest a "girls' night out" for her mother, Chadwick said. "She was real," added Susan Radi, who said Kristy Ragsdale was the type who wouldn't bat an eye at an occasional bad word, and had a special concern for teenage girls and young women in their ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The women also described her as a "great mom" to her sons, ages 4 and 19 months."
This is an excerpt from the latest Salt Lake Tribune article. Don't we all just take eachother for granted a little bit until we can't see our friend anymore? And then we appreciate her more intensely. I hope we can all hug eachother more often and forgive eachother our shortcomings.
