What a spirit...

I am from Kristy’s old ward, Jordan Meadows. Even though she moved a while ago, I still spoke with her regularly, and saw her occasionally. She was such an example to me in so many ways. Never afraid to bear her testimony. Never afraid to make a friend. Never afraid to say what’s on her mind. Never afraid to help others. She had courage. She was authentic. I have SO many memories of her…
-Right after she moved in to our neighborhood, she participated with our Relief Society in a musical presentation. I sang a duet with another woman for part of the program. During practice, Kristy came up to me at the podium in the chapel and actually physically moved my head so it was closer to the microphone. :o)
-I barely knew her, and she found out my husband and I were going on a cruise. She brought over a “cruise gift basket” that she put together for me. Sun glasses, sun block, lip balm, regular body lotion, and 2 pairs of Victoria’s Secret thong underwear!
-She was one of the first people to ever actually ask me if my boobs were real. Classic Kristy. When she found out they are indeed real, she asked me what kind of bra I used so she could be perky too. :o)
-She would call me and ask me how she could teach her kids to be honest. And how should she handle temper tantrums with Brandon…she always wanted to be the best mother she could be.
-She was never afraid to say “I think you’ve lost weight in your butt and hips” after I had my 4th baby.
-Talking for hours on the phone about EVERYTHING. From celebrity marriages, to birth control, to the Atonement of Jesus Christ.
-Being amazed that she thought I was an example to HER, when in reality I looked up to her in many ways. She was the one that put forth most of the effort in our friendship, yet she would tell me how much my friendship meant to her.
-Learning from her that I don’t want to be afraid to say how I feel, and I don’t want to be afraid to open myself up to others.
-When I was pregnant with my 4th, she was the one who threw a shower for me. Didn’t hesitate. It was great.
-She had the guts to share the story of her bikini wax before she had Carter. Hilarious!!!
-Babysitting Brandon many times, and her watching my kids. I felt that she truly loved my kids.
-Talking about the Twilight series so late into the night, that we both almost fell asleep on the phone. She was the one who brought me Twilight and told me I should read it.
-Her bearing her testimony at every chance. Through everything, and above everything, I know she had a strong and secure faith. She knew her Savior.

Kristy, know that I love you. I’m so sorry I never said that to you when I had the chance. I’m sorry if I ever seemed distant. You showed me what a friend is. You taught me so much, even though you claimed the opposite. Thank you. My heart breaks that the chance to raise your boys has been taken from you. But I know you will be with them again. I look to the day when we can laugh with one another again. I hope to live my life better because of you.

Love, Allyson

Allyson,

I think many of us thought the same thing...That Kristy was more of a friend to us than we were to her. She was the one to always take time out of HER day to call US. A lesson learned....Thanks Kris.

ya, I think we can all agree that Kristy was obsessed with boobs. She always cracked me up so much.

I can't even say how depressing it is to me that I didn't know she had read Twilight. We shouldn't have wasted so much of our breath on Dave - we could have been talking about Edward. :(

Great comment!!!! Edward would be worth discussing. Kristy was smitten with him.

She seems like she would have been an amazing friend. I too wish I would have had an opportunity to know her. My prayers are with you and especially with her two beautiful boys. I know what it is like to be seperated and how hard it is to get up and go to church and put on face and be strong. What an amazing woman and daughter of God.
